There are, potentially, some great games and close encounters. Not an easy week for tipsters.

Friday April 27:

Western Bulldogs v Carlton: Both sides have shown promise at times but generally have disappointed. The Blues almost scored an upset last week while the Doggies were given a football lesson. This week might just see the Dogs bounce back. WESTERN BULLDOGS WIN

Saturday April 28:

Geelong v Sydney: Two sides that will probably be in finals contention later in the year. The Swans are missing key forward Franklin and midfielder Hannebery while the Cats are always strong at home. GEELONG LOSS

North Melbourne v Port Adelaide: The 'Roos are a bit of a surprise packet, sitting third on the ladder. The Power are missing Ryder but might still win a close one. PORT ADELAIDE WIN

GWS v Brisbane: Should be the easiest game to pick but sides have gone down after expecting easy wins. The Giants will be carrying too many guns. GWS WIN

Hawthorn v Saint Kilda: A week ago this might have been regarded as a walkover for the Hawks, but they were stunned by the Roos last week while the Saints surprisingly drew with GWS. I still think HAWTHORN WIN

Adelaide v Gold Coast: The Suns are, once again, away from home after the Commonwealth Games and Adelaide, despite missing key players, stunned Sydney last week. They welcome back a couple of those keys and should win. ADELAIDE WIN

Sunday April 29th:

Essendon v Melbourne: Two teams whose form has been unpredictable. The Demons have an extra day's rest to prepare and are favourites but the Bombers do well at Etihad. Despite them "resting" Bellchambers I'm picking ESSENDON (with no great confidence) LOSS

Collingwood v Richmond: Two teams in tremendous form playing what might be the game of the round. The Pies, after struggling for several years, have become a disciplined unit with a real plan. The Tigers are showing their 2018 Premiership form. Tough, but I'm going for RICHMOND WIN

Fremantle v West Coast: Over here in the West this is the game of the round. The Dockers will ride a wave of emotion buoyed by their Purple Army while the Eagles have shown good form to start the season. I'm tipping with the heart as much as the head. WEST COAST WIN

Good luck. It's tough this week!

This was supposed to be a tough round, but our tipsters shone - particularly Flin, Lee and Scepo who all tipped 8 of the 9 winners.

Just goes to show that an olfactory challenged porcine can find a subterranean Ascomycete fungus once in a great while.
