Mustang Bullitt coming to Oz
ord is preparing rolling out the red carpet for one of Hollywood's greatest action heroes.
The blue oval has confirmed the special edition Mustang Bullitt will be offered locally as part of the updated 2018 pony car range.
Built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the blockbuster starring Steve McQueen, in which the Hollywood heart throb drove an original 1968 Mustang Fastback in one of the most legendary car chases to ever grace the silver screen, the new-generation Mustang Bullitt was first revealed at the 2018 Detroit motor show in January and confirmed for right-hand drive production at the Geneva motor show today.
Ford Australia has yet to lock down final prices for the Mustang Bullitt, nor has it confirmed exactly how many will be available to Australian customers, but company President, Graeme Whickman, said it is an exciting addition to the local line-up.
“Steve McQueen as Bullitt created a legend and Mustang Bullitt is the perfect way to salute an icon of the silver screen,” he said.
“We’re excited to offer Australian buyers the Mustang Bullitt, especially on the 50th anniversary of the legendary film.”
Under the bonnet, it has an upgraded version of the 5.0-litre V8 with the intake manifold from the Shelby GT350 featuring 87mm throttle bodies as well as an active exhaust system, a revised engine management system and a cold air intake that elevate peak outputs to 354kW and 570Nm.
Inside, the special edition machine has a specific start-up screen within the 12-inch digital instrument cluster, green stitching throughout the leather-lined cockpit and a cue ball-style gear shifter.
Wow, very nice and it even has a cue ball-style gear shifter.

What I miss most about losing sight in my right eye, is not being able to dream about driving something like this.

The original Mustang used by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt has come out of hiding.
Steve's grand-daughter had the pleasure of sitting in the drivers seat when her grand-dad was driving.
When you can't make then see the light make them feel the heat.
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has it's limits
