Moment officers beat, hose down and film disability pensioner.
An officer then sprays the man with a watering hose while another draws out his mobile phone to film. (Fairfax Media)

Confronting vision has emerged of the moment six police officers forcefully held down, beat and sprayed a mentally ill disability pensioner with a hose outside his Melbourne home.
In September 2017, the man’s psychologist called Triple-0 over concerns for his deteriorating mental health, a Fairfax Media investigation has revealed.
What followed was an horrific ordeal, in part filmed by officers and captured in full on the man’s CCTV camera.
The vision, obtained by Fairfax Media, shows the vulnerable man pinned down in his own front yard by the six officers.
One officer can be seen pulling out a baton and repeatedly beating him on the leg.
“You f------ idiot,” another officer can be heard saying, as he punches the already helpless man in the back.
“You like that?” he says, thrusting a can of pepper spray into his face.
“Smells good, doesn’t it?”
The man can be heard screaming “my back … my eyes”, before an officer puts a boot on his back and arrests him.
“Get your f------ hands behind your f------ back,” he shouts.
As one officer proceeds to spray the pensioner with a watering hose, the lead officer appears to start filming on his mobile phone.
Prior to the incident filmed on camera, the officers arrived at the man’s home and warned him they would use a crowbar to force entry, Fairfax Media reports.
The man, who has a minor, decade-long conviction for assault, is seen opening his door and pleading for police to leave.
Police allege he came at them with raised fists. But the video shows otherwise.
Moments later, he is pinned down.
Under the Mental Health Act in Victoria, officers can use force if they believe a person with a mental illness is a threat to themselves or to the community.
In police notes of the incident, none of the officers present reportedly raised concerns about their behaviour that day.
In a statement to 9NEWS, Victoria Police said it “has no tolerance for poor behaviour within its ranks”.
“Our officers make mistakes like anyone else, and when that happens, we learn from that,” the statement read.
The case is with Victoria’s public sector watchdog the Independent Broad-based Anti corruption Commission (IBAC).
Victoria Police will be making a submission to a parliamentary inquiry into the ordeal.

I hope he gets a good lawyer on to this asap - Vic Police go soft on African gang crime yet can beat a mentally ill disability pensioner, what had he done to receive such treatment?

What kind of yobbos do the hire as cops. The cop repeatedly hitting the poor guy on the shins with his night stick served no purpose other than satiating his sadistic nature. All those cops and they couldn't overpower him without using pepper spray.
Cowards, the bloody lot of them.

This might appear go be a little bit off-topic, but in keeping with the "police brutality/no idea how to handle situations" principle, what about the poor young girl that was shot dead, within a minute of them arriving on the scene. Okay, she had a knife, but you can't tell me that five or six policemen couldn't bring her down, without resorting to bullets in the chest! Nets, jackets, anything! How long would it have taken? Or, are they only brave with helpless people? Like the guy a couple of nights ago, the footage involved showed pepper spray, taser and FOURTEEN whacks on the legs and body with a baton! And the guy was naked and held down by at least three or four policemen!
