Can you imagine the uproar from the PC brigade if Barry Humphries performed this in 2018?

Good old sense of humour, that's gone due to the PC taking the piss out of everything. http://fairdinkumnewschat.com/biggrin.gif http://fairdinkumnewschat.com/biggrin.gif

I could never watch Sir Les Patterson, I had come across too many of them in real life. Needless to say, I haven’t watched the clip.

Mrs C shares your sentiments Alicia. She describes him with one word, "Revolting". http://fairdinkumnewschat.com/wink.gif

There's a little bit of Chad Morgan (the act, not the man) in Sir Les.

The man is a lovely gentleman - the act is an early version of Sir Les.

Agreed though, the character is revolting by todays standards. http://fairdinkumnewschat.com/biggrin.gif http://fairdinkumnewschat.b1.jcink.com/uploads/fairdinkumnewschat/lbill.gif

Frankly I had more time for "Sir Les" than I did for "Dame Edna".

All in all I did not find Barry Humphries funny.

Sorry Bill, but I don't see Humphries in the same league as Chad.

I didn’t have any time for Barry Humphries either. To me he always came across as arrogant and patronising. I can’t handle a lot of the modern ABC style “comedy”or “comedians”. I do realise they are not supposed to appeal to a lot of “ olds”. http://fairdinkumnewschat.b1.jcink.com/uploads/fairdinkumnewschat/smiley_don_t_know.gif grumpy old woman I suppose. http://fairdinkumnewschat.com/mad.gif http://fairdinkumnewschat.com/laugh.gif

As an aside, I can't even begin to get Chad Morgan (the performer), I used to try and see what other people are apparently seeing, but..... http://fairdinkumnewschat.b1.jcink.com/uploads/fairdinkumnewschat/smiley_don_t_know.gif

I don't like him or any of his characters. Maybe if I hailed from Melbourne I would find him wonderful. .
