| Keneally to run in Bennelong by-election
Updated: 11:12 am, Tuesday, 14 November 2017
Former NSW premier Kristina Keneally will stand as the Labor candidate in the Bennelong by-election.
The Sky News host appeared alongside Opposition Leader Bill Shorten in the Sydney electorate to announce the move on Tuesday.
Former Bennelong MP John Alexander sparked the by-election when he resigned after finding out he was a dual citizen.
Ms Keneally told reporters she was not running because Mr Alexander was a dual citizen, but because the Coalition government has hurt the electorate.
'This is an opportunity for the community in which I live to stand up and say to Malcolm Turnbull, 'Your government is awful. Enough is enough',' she said.
Voters there will go to the polls on 16 December.
Another recycled politician!
Ms Keneally's track record when Premier of NSW isn't overly convincing. After all, In the 26 March election 0f 2011, the Labor government was heavily defeated, suffering a swing of over 16 per cent—the largest in a general election at any level in Australia since World War II. In the space of less than six months her approval rating fell from 53% (March 2010) to 39% (August 2010). By October 2011, Newspoll reported her Government had only 23% of the primary vote.
A great candidate and no, doubt, Shorten's "captain's choice".

| Although a tennis fan, I was never a fan of John Alexander as a player, and even less so as a commentator for Channel 7. However from the little I have read and heard about his performance as an MP, it appears he is doing a pretty good job. Probably better than most.
No doubt the faithful will forget Keneallys past record and vote for her.
Mind you this government is a dismal failure and deserve to be booted out. It's time Turnbull admitted that he is doing worse than Abbott did, and resign immediately. He is simply dragging the Libs to rock bottom .
