CRAIG Lowndes’ drive to conquer Mount Panorama is not over yet.
The 44-year-old has called time on his illustrious 21-year career as a full-time driver, meaning the chequered flag will fall on his career at the season-ending Newcastle 500.
But the legend will not be lost to the sport.
The six-time Bathurst winner will continue to race at Mount Panorama, Sandown and on the Gold Coast as an endurance-event driver with Triple Eight Race Engineering.
I have been a fan of Craig's for many years, no matter what car he raced (Ford or that other brand ) meet him in person, lots of photos with the family - Craig has a great personality, very much a 'people person' I wish him well - this is not a complete retirement.

I've always liked Lowndsy too. Even when he drove bloody Fords.

The only drivers I ever met are Frosty and Steve Richards, they seemed nice blokes, didn't mind us ribbing them a bit about driving Fords. I still have a stubby holder they gave me. And just by the impressions on tv, I always thought Glen Seeton was one of the nicest guys going.

Fords go just as good as any other piece of crap if you spend enough money on them. ''
